What to Expect at Your First visit

At Black Hills Area Dental, our focus is on you, our patient! Everyone in the practice, from the receptionist to the doctor, to the hygienists and the “behind the scenes” staff always have top of mind your care, comfort and safety. We pride ourselves on putting our patients first in everything we do. When you come to our office, you’ll be treated with respect, dignity and of course, compassion. It truly is all about you!

Our front desk has optimized the check-in process so that when you arrive, you won’t be wasting time with unnecessary paperwork and red tape. Our staff have been trained on how to navigate through the twists and turns of dental insurance, and we’ll work hard to help you maximize your dental benefits. Sometimes getting dental work done can be scary enough – there’s no reason to add any worry about insurance on top of that! If you have any questions about what you plan does and doesn’t cover – let us do the work – we’re sure you have better things to do with your time. We want to make sure you that you’re informed, know all of your options, and receive the best care possible.

Dr. Samuelson

When it comes time for your appointment, Dr. Samuelson will be providing treatment in an environment that makes sure you are comfortable, relaxed and of course, safe. During your procedure, we’ll even hold your hand if you’d like us to! Our office is equipped with modern, state of the art equipment. Our dental chairs are very comfortable, allowing you to remain relaxed and at ease throughout your dental appointment.

When you come in for a cleaning, your find our hygienists are gentle and caring. We want to keep your teeth and gums bright and clean, and recommend that you come in every six months for regular appointments. Our hygienists, like Dr. Samuelson, operate in a “no lecture zone” – meaning you’ll never be lectured or talked down to about your dental health. Of course, that extends to your family members as well, be it the children or your spouse. If it’s found that you need treatment, we’ll simply tell you what we’ve found and the doctor will make a recommendation on the best course of treatment.

Before leaving our office, we’ll be sure that you’re educated on the state of your dental health, and will provide you with our recommendations while you’re at home on how to properly take care of your teeth and gums. Our goal is to make sure that you’re empowered to give yourself great dental health, and a great smile that you’re proud to show off!
